Join the Ability360 Independence Cup Rocket League Tournament July 5-6

Ability360 is hosting its second Independence Cup esports tournament on July 5-6, 2024. The Independence Cup Rocket League Tournament brings together gamers of all skill levels to raise awareness and support for the Ability360 Phoenix Rising Power Soccer Team, 360Heat Rugby and the wheelchair tennis program. “We are thrilled to bring the tournament back for a second year,” said Chris Rodriguez, president & CEO of Ability360. “Last year, we had an amazing turn out from the gaming community to support what we’re doing at Ability360 and this year we are excited to introduce even more people to our diverse supports and programs for people with disabilities.” Rocket League and Power Soccer share a common theme of playing soccer in non-traditional ways. However, Power Soccer is specifically designed for individuals with disabilities, and players use power wheelchairs. While Rocket League has become a mainstream esports title with a competitive scene and professional players, Power Soccer has also gained recognition as an adaptive sports game, with international tournaments and organizations deciding to promote the sport. The virtual tournament is free to enter and pits players against each other in a 3v3 Double Elimination setup. Grand Canyon University Esports has generously provided the support to make this a tournament gaming experience like no other for players and viewers alike, including opening their gaming room to local participants for use during the tournament. Registration to the Independence Cup Rocket League Tournament is available at ability360.org/360esports. Q90/CIL Suite, who creates database management software with independence and accessibility in mind, has joined the tournament as a Striker Sponsor. Corporate sponsorships are still available and range from $1,000 to $10,000. All proceeds raised will benefit Ability360’s Phoenix Rising Power Soccer Program, 360Heat Rugby and the wheelchair tennis program. If you are interested in supporting this event, please contact Meghan Fable, vice president of community relations and development at [email protected].
