Summer is the time when nature’s bounty offers the world a showcase of her natural power: with color, magic, and texture, everything is alive and bursting with potential. Celebrate the earth and learn to paint beautiful flowers in bloom and leaves of wonder. In this workshop, participants will work in pencil and watercolor paint, which lends itself beautifully to capturing the form and lucidity of botanicals. Starting with sketching, participants will build out buds, petals, leaves, and stalk shapes before moving on to fully realized watercolor paintings.
Sally Novak is one of Dumbo’s leading artists at Creatively Wild Art Studio, and has been with the studio since its inception. Sally is an award-winning Brooklyn-based artist by way of California; she moved to Brooklyn in 2004. She works in a variety of media, including oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas and paper, found objects, and recycled materials. Her current works are environmental explorations on paper rendered in acrylics, graphite, and oil pastels. Her deconstructed topographies are influenced by the natural forms of land, air, and water. Her recent works express a deep concern for the endangered environment and how it is affecting all forms of life on the planet.
Art supplies including watercolor paper, watercolors, watercolor brushes, pencils, erasers, and flowers will be available for use for $20, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies if they have them.
