MAINPLACE INVITES THE COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE ‘READ ACROSS AMERICA’
MainPlace, a three-story super-regional shopping center in Santa Ana, California (www.shopmainplacemall.com), has long had a deep commitment to community, volunteerism and giving, the foundations of corporate responsibility programs that it shares with Centennial, the shopping center’s parent company. Through programs like “Centennial Cares,” Centennial regularly encourages MainPlace and each of the other shopping centers it owns and operates to add value to their communities. In addition to philanthropic contributions, Centennial centers like MainPlace work to fulfill wishes for abused and neglected children, collect winter coats for the homeless, serve as disaster relief and donation centers following natural disasters, host blood drives and provide performance space for local arts groups. In short, Centennial centers like MainPlace have made a commitment to be a true community partner. Illustrating this commitment, MainPlace invites the community to participate in “Read Across America,” the nation’s largest celebration of reading, with a special book reading and character meet-and-greet event held at the center’s own affordable gently used bookstore, Bargain Book World, on Saturday, March 2nd, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. During this event, a surprise costumed character will read the Disney book “Frozen” and take photos with children at the reading. Each child attending the event will also receive a free book (while supplies last). This event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the center’s Little Free Library, located directly across from Bargain Book World, a free book-sharing box where anyone may take a book or share a book.
