MAINPLACE INVITES SHOPPERS TO PARTICIPATE IN A RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. However, the American Red Cross has recently declared an emergency blood shortage with the number of donors hitting a 20-year low. To help, MainPlace, a three-story super-regional shopping center in Santa Ana, California (www.shopmainplacemall.com), invites shoppers to participate in a Red Cross Blood Drive held in the center’s MyPerks Lounge on Monday, January 29th, between noon and 6 p.m. As an incentive, each donor will be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. The winner and a guest will receive round-trip airfare to Las Vegas, three-night hotel accommodations, access to in-stadium pre-game activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl experience, and a $1,000 gift card for expenses. Appointments are required to donate blood. When making an appointment, participants can choose between a “Blood Donation” in which they share a pint of whole blood, or a “Power Red Donation” in which they share red cells, with most of the plasma and platelets being returned to the donor; Power Red donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Negative, B Negative or O blood.
