BAM! POW! January is our first ever MARVEL Vs. DC: Comic Carnage circus variety show, where Supervillains, Superheroes, secret identities, and your favorite characters take flight, strip down, cause havoc and rock the stage, all performed by the best and boldest performers in the Bay and beyond!
Join us for a raucous night at what the East Bay Express has called "the most consistently spectacular event Oakland has ever seen"! The Ruckus and Rumpus Revival is a legendary underground variety show filled with uncensored circus, stand up comedy, burlesque, pole performance, freestyle rap battles, aerial, beat-boxing, slam poetry, shocking sideshow, break-dancing, dirty haiku bouts and audience-interactive mayhem in a fast paced night of unfiltered entertainment! We’ve been called “one of the best underground performance art shows in America” by the Huffington Post.
The winner of multiple "Best of the Bay" awards, the SF Chronicle calls Ruckus "a dazzling, inspiring and celebratory display of talent" and "a tent revival for misfits and freaks, those whose artistry or spectatorship has a homespun bent and a bandit streak." Every show features an all new lineup, and both the freestyle rap battle and slam are open for anyone to sign up and compete for $400 in cash prizes, judged by the audience!
Hosted by Jamie DeWolf (HBO’s Def Poetry Jam and NPR's Snap Judgment) and Wonder Dave (Mental Health Comedy Hour), with DizzyfromEarlier, Little Glitter Bomb and the beat-boxer Syzygy.
