Texas boasts more than half the bird species found in the entire United States, and Laura Perkins Wright travels the state to capture them in photographs and paint them at her studio in Austin. From the majestic Great Blue Heron and chatty Cedar Waxwing to the feisty little Tufted Titmouse, their beauty is captured in acrylics as they court one another, feed their young, forage and fly.
Water2Wine Austin Winery is displaying Laura's work for sale from July 10 to August 31 at their location at 3300 West Anderson Lane. No purchase necessary. Come meet the artist from 6pm-8pm on Friday, July 12, when she will be pleased to answer questions and explain her process.
Laura Perkins Wright is an Austin artist specializing in naturalist paintings of mammals, insects and plants, primarily those of the surrounding Hill Country. Relying on her own photographs and those of talented friends, she works in acrylics and cherishes her time discovering minute details of the world around her through art.
